You'll find practical information related to contraception, the morning after pill, STD tests, gynecological exams, pregnancy, abortion, counseling, insurance and more. You'll also learn about costs, any social/legal issues, and any special recommendations from our users. If you have any information to share, we wholeheartedly welcome your contribution. It's easy to create a profile and get started. We also encourage editing and moderation, if you happen to find any information that seems incorrect or outdated. This is a community, and we want lots of people to get involved!
We organize information based on location. So, check out the [[New York City]] page as an example. You'll find practical information on contraception, the morning after pill, STD tests, gynecological exams, pregnancy, abortion, counseling, insurance and more. You'll also learn about social/legal issues, costs, and any local recommendations from our users. In total, the pages are divided in ten categories, and we're committed to giving you lots of information.


To learn more about it, feel free to visit the [[About]] page. But, here's the basics: Why did I create Gynopedia? Honestly, because I couldn’t find anything like it. When I began preparing for my travels, I realized that I had no idea how I would get birth control in the twelve or so Asian countries we planned to visit. And that was just the tip of the iceberg. How about annual pap smears? What if I got pregnant? Then I remembered that, when I lived in Turkey, I was never able to get a proper STD test, which was endlessly frustrating. Later, when I lived in New York, I found myself uninsured and in need of a gynecologist. Time and again, I’ve needed advice from local people and lacked a comprehensive online resource. This made me enraged yet wildly inspired. And so Gynopedia was born.  
So, how do we get this information? It's all contributions from real people. So, we would '''love''' if you can help us out too! Let us know which generic birth control pills made you feel shitty. Let us know which gynecologist was especially awesome. Let us know how to ask for yeast infection medication in Hungarian, or UTI treatment in Spanish. Let us know all the good stuff, please!
