Ireland has one of the strictest abortion laws in the word. In Ireland, abortion is illegal except for when the pregnancy endangers the life of the woman. In all other cases, including to preserve physical health, to preserve mental health, rape or incest, risk of fetal impairment, social or economic reasons, abortion is prohibited. If a woman obtains an abortion in Ireland, she may be sentenced to fourteen years in prison. If a woman obtains an abortion in Northern Ireland, she may be sentenced to life in prison.[1]
